Big Bad Lumberjack Marching Band Member of the Week Jayla Wilson is a 5th grade student at Central Elementary School. Jayla joined the Big Bad Lumberjack Marching Band this year and has a passion for playing the snare drum. This past month has been very challenging for Jayla with being hospitalized at St Tammany Hospital in the Pediatric ICU for a week with pneumonia, fevers that spiked as high as 105, and extreme pain from swollen lymph nodes in her abdomen. Having faith in God, Jayla pushed to get better so that she could get back to band practice with her fellow drum line and band family. Jayla is a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. In her spare time, she helps to assist in the care of both of her grandparents, Reverend Curtis and Evelyn Moss. Please help us congratulate Jayla!

Last day of Raider Nationals and completion of the award ceremony;our BHS Raiders conquered the Thunderbolt Tower (a 90 foot rappel tower). The Raiders will earn the Rappel Arc for their Army Service Uniform.

Fort Knox award ceremony was conducted at 1200EST. 222 schools traveled from all over the United States and territories. There were 76 mixed teams in the Mixed Team Category.
The hard work, dedication, teamwork, and motivation of our Lumberjack Raiders earned them 3rd Place in the One-Rope Bridge event.
Overall, our Raiders placed 16th in all 5 events.
Outstanding job to these hard-working, dedicated individuals!!!!!

Second day of Fort Knox: Our BHS Raiders conducted their 5 event rotation of events.
First, they conducted the Physical Team Test, which had a new obstacle, the tire swing. Then, they transitioned to the Cross Country rescue and had to answer 10 medical/first aid questions as a team.
For lunch, our Raiders enjoyed their MRE(meal ready to eat).
Rope Bridge was the third event followed by the Gauntlet. Their first obstacle was to negotiate the 12 foot wall and various obstacles along the course.
Each of the events is approximately 1 mile in distance, with cadets carrying trucks and various other items.
Our last event was the cross-country 5k route through the hills of Kentucky.
These highly motivated cadets proved they deserved to compete at the national level.
At the end of our long day, they enjoyed their meal at Golden Corral.
Tomorrow is the awards ceremony.
