At Bogalusa City School System, we believe that nutritious meals are the cornerstone of a successful education. Our Food Nutrition Services team is dedicated to providing students with healthy, balanced meals that fuel their minds and bodies, setting them up for success in the classroom and beyond.
Our goal is to offer students high-quality, nutritious, and appetizing meals that meet and exceed federal and state guidelines. We are committed to promoting lifelong healthy eating habits by offering a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins in our daily menus.
Breakfast and Lunch Programs: We provide daily breakfast and lunch to ensure students have the energy they need to thrive throughout the school day.
Special Dietary Needs: We accommodate students with food allergies and special dietary requirements. Please contact our team to discuss your child’s needs.
Free and Reduced-Price Meals: We participate in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and the School Breakfast Program (SBP), offering free and reduced-price meals to eligible families.
Explore our monthly menus to see what’s being served. We provide detailed nutritional information for all items so parents and students can make informed choices.
Due to USDA regulations, all students in Pre-K-12 must select a 1/2 cup of fruit or vegetable for lunch in addition to or as one of the three items. USDA has implemented these changes to encourage students to eat more fruits and vegetables. The USDA has lowered their requirements for total calories, sodium and saturated fat for all menus.
Elementary menus offer multiple breakfast choices daily and one lunch choice daily. High Schools menus also offer multiple breakfast choices daily and a choice of main entree, entree salad or sandwich for lunch. Some of our students will get to taste test new products this school year that could be featured on our menus for next school year. Our menus consist of nutritionally balanced choices that include a variety of fruit, vegetables, low-fat milk, whole grains and meat or meat alternate.
Bogalusa City Schools menus may experience last minute menu changes as a result of the nationwide food supply issues. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate through these challenges. We look forward to serving all of our students free breakfast and lunch this school year.
